<description>The 2010 Parsons Design Workshop Team:
Nora Alhasan, Michael Brotherton, Sloane Brown, Patrick Corrigan, John Loercher, Bradley Loew, Adabelgy Londono, Paul Schroeckenstein, Siena Shaw, Steven Sze, Kimberly Tate, and Evan Wolff with the help of David Lewis, Joel Stoehr, Ed May, and John Mitchell

In January 2010, the New York City Parks Department commissioned the Parsons Design Workshop to transform a derelict field house in Riverside Park into a usable community space. As a landmarked structure, an aesthetic needed to be maintained on the exterior which produced a simple, but elegant facade. The interior had more freedom for design and the themes of “lightly touching” and “reveals” were the driving forces. The elements of the project that I was specifically responsible for was all the photographing needed through out the 6 months process, all the 3D digital modeling (in preparation fo rendering) and the design and detailing of the ceiling and lighting system.

		<guid isPermaLink="false">1877489</guid>

<description>The Sewerd Park Urban Renewal Area, also known as SPURA is located in the Lower East Side of Manhattan and is the largest tract of undeveloped New York City Owned land in Manhattan south of 96th St. After developing an urban plan, more detail was placed into one of it's key components, the charter School. The school was developed based on two possible ways of thinking about education. The first being that education is a stable consistent part of society, best formally represented by a rectangle. The second that education should be a dynamic and engaging experience, best formally represented by a spiral. With these two ideas in mind, a hybrid was developed. The basic form of the building appears to be a simple block, but in actuality, the program swilrs upward through it creating a dynamic experience.

<description>All Star is a unique shoe store that pays homage to one of the most iconic shoes in the world, the Converse Chuck Taylor All Star. Rather than attempting to overcome the limitations of its narrow site, All Star emphasizes them to create linear procession. The path has a natural hierarchy and becomes a means of telling the history and evolution of the shoe the store is named after.

The "Museo di Arte Contemporanea nella Marche," also known as MACMa, is an art exhibit for the sculptures of Arnaldo Pomodoro and the photographs of Mario Giacomelli at the Ancona Falconara. The two different exhibitions emphasize the nature of the art on display. Outside, the massive sculptures of Pomodoro literally sink into the ground and express the weight of the art. Conversely on the inside, the "boxes" that display the photographs of Giacomelli, float about the ground at varrying levels expressing the lightness of the media.

<description>The “City of Neighbors” is a multi-family housing community built on the interplay of public and private spaces between two units that are linked together. The primary component consists the pairing of two housing units. The units face each other and begin to share their experiences of the public spaces through the glass facade, while the most private spaces, concealed and opaque, reach out and bind the units together.

<description>The Columbus Theatre of Justice is a court house that puts the judicial system on display and embodies the theatrics of it. The sweeping glass curtain peels away from the main structure to reveal the court rooms and act an introduction to the building. Through the use of an intricate circulation system two interior facades, the experience delves deeper and gives a closer look at the court rooms , the supporting program, and the people involved. By maintaining a distance and with the vast amount of program, a sense of privacy can be maintained in the program because of repetition and overstimulation.
